Jon F. Swift Construction was selected as the construction manager to transform the existing Historic Courthouse Square into an attractive courtyard that can be enjoyed by daily visitors as well as the thousands of people passing by in the downtown core each day. The project features include a new police memorial, veteran’s monument, and several distinguished citizen ‘footprint’ monuments along with a new gazebo for small concerts and other public events. Walkways constructed of washed shell and decorative brick pavers meander through the native landscaping gardens and monuments with informational signage. The project also includes hardscape items such as benches and picnic tables with built-in game boards. Decorative lighting fixtures using highly efficient low impact fixtures will expand the enjoyment if the park into the evenings. The project also includes significant structural repairs and waterproofing to the historic monumental stairs on all sides of the building, as well as renovations to provide ADA accessibility to the historic structure.
